Troegs Brewing Company - Hershey, PA
As we stand on the precipice of the Autumnal Equinox (due Sept. 23rd) we stare down at another Fall season. A Fall that will for sure be filled with football, turkey shoots, meat smoking, and of course seasonal beer. I have chosen Troegs' Hop Knife as my inaugural beer for this year's season, and I couldn't be any happier. This harvest ale (I'd say harvest East Coast-style single IPA) is packed with citrus and resinous hops. A rich malt backbone provides a deep and dry finish. This beer is exactly what one needs when wielding a grilling spatula or brandishing a piece of firewood. Refreshing for the warm sun and warming for the cool breeze. Troegs has consistently impressed us here at Beer Noggin, always seeming to find a way to provide precisely what the Beer Drinker is looking for. So what if it doesn't have 100 IBUs or make you think you just ate a bag of dried leaves? This beer is here for the whole afternoon and into the evening. Sharp and decisive, this beer knows what it is, and how it must be enjoyed.
