Welcome to the first iteration of "Beer & Food | Beer in Food."

Here you will find our casual exploration of pairing Beer with Food and Cooking with Beer. This is a fun opportunity for us to share some of our favorite pairings, recipes, and experiences where Beer and Food are at the forefront.

Mixed Six: Beer for Barbecue


For six weeks, we are featuring a craft beer, along with tasting notes and suggestions for pairings. At the end of the six weeks, we'll review the Mixed Six pack and recap the choices.

Right now, we're featuring beers chosen by Brendan Carroll and Doug Cedrone of Beer Noggin in Bronxville.

Mama’s Little Yella Pils

Style: Czech pilsner, 5.3 percent ABV

Brewery: Oskar Blues Brewery, Denver, CO and Brevard, NC.

Food Pairing: Everything, potato salad, salads, corn, burgers, hot dogs, and lawn games.

Tasting Notes: A mellow crisp Czech-style pilsner with a light floral, herbal, and grass hop character on the palate balanced with a sweet corn nose.

Lohud Food - Mixed Six: Craft beer picks from Beer Noggin


"Staring down shelves of craft beers, each six-pack stamped with terms like “dry-hopped,” “high gravity” or “cask conditioned” can be a little overwhelming, even for the well-versed beer drinker.

At Beer Noggin in Bronxville, the shop is small, the selection is curated, and it’s not overwhelming in the least.

Owners Brendan Carroll and Doug Cedrone founded their business on quality, and remain committed to selling not just the most beers, but those they consider to be the best.

For the next six weeks, Cedrone and Carroll will serve as lohud’s resident beer experts. They will choose our lohud Beer of the Week, and including tasting notes and suggestions for pairings.

“We sat down and went through them all, together, one by one,” says Carroll, adding that they wanted the Mixed Six tasting notes to be original, helpful and most importantly, more specific than what you’ll get from anywhere else.

We'll also feature the beers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #lohudfood, so you can follow along and ask any questions. At the end of the six weeks, we'll review the Mixed Six and recap their choices.

Exclusive new microbrewery in Tarrytown

All six beers are available for purchase at the Beer Noggin shop and taproom across from the Bronxville Metro-North station, where coffee shop meets craft beer bar in one easy space.

During the day, you’ll find parents with a baby stroller or Bronxville shoppers ducking in for a quick drink. Once 5 p.m. comes around, commuters take over. A small bar lines the back of the shop, where you can taste any of the dozen beers on tap that day.

Keep an eye on the Beer Noggin Facebook page, where you can follow along with the limited beer releases and tap takeovers featuring brewers they deem worthy of their chalkboard menu.

Today is the day folks. Beer Noggin has officially opened its doors to the public! Please stop in and check out the space and have some beer with us. 

We will be open 7 days a week: Monday - Saturday 11am-10pm & Sunday 12pm-6pm.

Hang in There!!!

In the last couple of weeks, we have finished the construction on the space and received (and passed!) all of the necessary inspections. We are currently waiting on some paperwork to go through the Bronxville Building Department so that we may receive our official Certificate of Occupancy.  We need this certificate to go to the NY State Liquor Authority so that our licensing can be finalized.  Once the license is finalized, we can start ordering beer and stocking our shelves!  This sounds like it may take a long time, but rest assured that once we receive our Certificate of Occupancy from Bronxville, the rest of the process is only a matter of days.  In order to get our store open as soon as possible, Brendan and I have been hard at work crossing all other 'Ts' and dotting all remaining 'Is'.  We have been building and curating our starting initial orders from the beer distributors and running tests on our POS so that we're ready to rock once the State Liquor Authority issues our permanent license.

We are waiting for the building department process our paperwork so we do not yet have a hard date on when we will open.  But we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so stick with us.  Keep checking up  on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for all of our updates.  We'll see you soon!

Almost There!

Paint is drying and the final touches are being made. We are almost there folks!

Once the construction phase is complete, we will begin to schedule inspections with the village and county. We will keep everyone posted as we check things off the list.
